Our guide was fantastic. Organisation fantastic. China fantastic.
I would however have liked to do a lot more walking. I felt the description of the holiday was slightly inaccurate. It was billed as an active holiday but the walks were short and slow.

Product :

Not as active as described. For example the two/three hours walking through rice fields was half an hour along a road to lunch then half an hour back on a path through the fields. I was expecting a longer walk through countryside at my own pace

Excellent holiday from beginning to end. Superb itinerary and national guide

Product :

Great value. All hotels were clean and of a good standard but breakfasts not always geared towards western tourists. No real problem as lunch and dinner were often more than enough for the day. If you like coffee take your own coffee sachets as coffee outside of big cities sometimes difficult to find

Well structured holiday.

Product :

There were only 7 of us in the group and Wendy Wu decided to go ahead with the tour. When we all met at Guilin, China then we were told we have to pay more tips for local guides than we have in our tour confirmation documents booking info in order to make up the different. We all believe this is an unfair request on behalf of Wendy Wu. Wendy Wu later agreed we should all pay the amount of tip as our travellers from Australia. We should not have to be asked to pay more just because we have a smaller group - this is such an unfair treatment if WW decided to go ahead with the tour - You would not have asked to pay more for your meal in a restaurant if the restaurant is not busy to supplement the restaurant running cost.
Some of the bus was in poor condition and particulary for a long bus journey over 6 hours. The condition of the bus is not keep in line with the price we paid for the tours.

If you are travelling in a smaller group with local guides only, then tipping is paid in each destination. To be fair to the guides we ask for a slightly higher amount per traveller with small groups. We always ensure the correct amount is shown on the final itinerary.


We were further sorry to hear of any disappointment with some of the vehicles and please be assured all your comments have been taken onboard.


We hope you otherwise enjoyed the tour and have come away with some fantastic memories of the breathtaking scenery.

Our national guide Christian was amazing. He really looked after each one of us. The tour was well organised and very varied. Our vehicle was spacious and we had careful drivers and knowledgeable local guides. We travelled by coach, boat and train and we saw some fantastic scenery and some very entertaining cultural shows. Our food and accommodation were both very good and our group of 14 (mainly Australians) were fun to be with.

Enthusiastic, well-informed, reassuring and supportive advice and leadership from all our Tour Guides, but above all our National Guide Sophie, who adopted me on my arrival as a solo traveller on her first Asian trip, whose suitcase hadn't made it from Hong Kong to Guilin. She went shopping with me to make sure I had everything I wanted until my suitcase caught up. And never lost her charm, calm or sense of humour during our 3 weeks of travel around many hotels in several provinces.

All inclusive, trains, planes, coaches, hotels and nearly all our meals. Not to mention all the time, patience and assistance from all our Guides, who didn't just accompany us in working hours, but went out of their way to assist with any additional exploration we wanted, such as a local massage in Chongqing, cocktails in Giulin and coming shopping with us to help get clothes and toiletries
